Thank you for your invitation in the 7/4/10 Trentonian article to review the “penny
by penny report” or itemized financial disbursement report of members’ dues by
this Local.
As you are aware, federal and private sector unions must complete annual Audit
Reports and the extensive “penny by penny” LM-2 Report. These LM-2 reports are
posted online by the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Labor Management
Standards for union members and general public viewing.
This Local as a state public worker only union is not required to complete this LM-2
Report.
To ensure we are on the same page as to what constitutes a “penny by penny
report.” We are not
referring to the Local’s annual Audit Report. Rather, we refer to a facsimile financial
report of disbursement of members dues as contained in the attached LM-2 form,
submitted for your guidance.
On Monday, July 19, 2010 at 5:30 p.m., members accept your invitation to “come
and see…this penny by penny report.” I am also requesting the attendance of Mr.
Edelstein at this review, if he is so inclined.
Also you may see more “dissident[‘s]” concerns as shared with Mr. Edelstein on the
MFC website. We are hopeful that this is the beginning of some meaningful dialogue
where accords can be reached on these concerns, such as outsourcing this Local’
s in-house election processes to an objective third party vendor.
